Colby Motorsports Team History
Dale Colby and his
sons, Michael and Dan, formed Colby Motorsports in 1988. With Dale
as the driver and both of his sons as part of the crew, the team
experienced much success. The team's racing career began in Groveton,
New Hampshire at Riverside Speedway where Dale won Rookie of the
Year. From there, they moved to the weekly series at White Mountain
Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, New Hampshire.
For twelve years, the team worked hard learning the ins and outs
of stock car racing. During a few of these years, Dan went on
to work for several Busch North Series teams and drivers. He started
working with Quint Boisvert and the Skoal Bandit Racing Team,
then Stub Fadden and the NAPA Racing Team, and finally moved on
to work with Mike Stefanik and the Burnham Boilers Racing Team.
He also worked with several well known drivers such as Dale Shaw,
Curtis Markum, and Brandon Butler.
Dan then brought all of his experience back to the Colby Motorsports
garage. Dan's experience combined with his brother Michael's developing
understanding of chassis configurations enabled Colby Motorsports
to become more competitive on the race track.
In 2001, the torch was passed from Dale to Dan to take over as
the driver for the team. Dale moved full-time into the business
side of Colby Motorsports, while Michael continued his responsibilities
as Crew Chief. All members of Colby Motorsports, combined, bring
almost 48 years of racing experience to the track.

Dan was with QBR for almost five years before moving on to Stub Fadden and the NAPA Racing Team. He also worked with the Mike Stefanik and the Burnham Racing Team. When Dan wasn’t busy doing mechanics, fabrication or auto body work for any of the previously mentioned teams, he could be found working with Dale Shaw, Curtis Markum, and Brandon Butler.
Goals: "I have many goals that I would like to accomplish in motorsports. First, I would like to finish in the Top 5 in every ACT race this season. I want to have fun and race well every week. I want to continue to learn and develop as a driver and as a team so we can advance to the NASCAR Busch North Series. Eventually, I’d like to be a full time NASCAR Busch Grand National Driver – then, the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series! My ultimate dream is to race at NHIS at the Nextel Cup level.
I would like to thank my wife Casey, my family, my team, my sponsors, and all of my friends for their support through out the year. Without everyone’s support, none of this would be possible!"
